Bucharest Potrait of an Artist

QUOTE

Having just landed two days ago in the Lofoten Islands in Norway, not too far from the North Pole, I find it hard to contain my delight at discovering such a paradise: the infinite light, changing every hour, the most spectacular mountains and so friendly, the sea in all of its aspects, the vegetation full of sap and color, everything permanently commented upon by the most voluble seagulls in the world.

And today the grand surprise: I reencountered Bucharest right here in this far away place in the form of some lilac bushes, still blossoming in summertime. With this I was instantly transposed to the place where I was born.
The perfume of the lilac bushes is for me the symbol of my much adored Bucharest. Since I was very young I have been charmed by walks through the city’s downtown, especially at nighttime, guided by a scent perceptible only here, in between sleepy houses, unsearched corners, forgotten buildings, wrapped in the yellowish shine of the headlights. The city discovered in this way has a fairytale quality, reminding one of different times, when rest had its definite place.

At daytime the need to open your eyes is even greater, to look and search for details. Among them you have the chance to discover with every step an extremely captivating and surprising city, filled with a charm that is impossible to discover in any other place in the world. Bucharest needs to be searched and discovered patiently, with curiosity, and, I would say, even with imagination. Whoever does this will be fully rewarded.

CITAT
