Bucharest Portrait of an Artist

My Bucharest is the one that remained impregnated in my mind from my childhood. The old buildings in the Jewish quarter, crossed by Calea Dudești and its Stone Cross, the spectacular Hala Traian, from where my grandmother used to buy me donuts, the roses and the jasmine in my yard on Parfumului Street, the manor house turned music school…

Some of these still exist today, others were lost, suffocated by too much pragmatic modernism… too many cars, too loud the bustle, too many bright ads, too little time to walk and rediscover that beautiful and elegant Bucharest.

I have invited 37 artists to take part in this project, and to choose a place in Bucharest to be photographed and to write a text about their relationship with the city. This idea would have remained only an idea without the support of ARCUB.
