Bucharest Portrait of an Artist

QUOTE

Bucharest as we all know it is a city of contrasts: you can find both the beautiful and the ugly, cleanliness and its opposite, harmonious architecture and buildings that one couldn’t say were in good taste. Maybe its relatively recent history deserves this appearance. Bucharest changed from monarchy to communism, from communism to freedom (which, in its turn, was understood in the most diverse ways).

The Bucharest that I know, from my dream of it, is different: it shines, it entices you with elegant buildings, with flowers and trees. Its youth is interested in the new but respects the past and does not lose sight of alluring jobs: it learns how to arrange flowers, to create wigs, hats and shoes.

That Bucharest is also a city of small museums: the Pharmacies Museum, the Ceramics and Glass Museum, of the furniture and ironworks collection, existing museums which should have seen new ones join them. My husband and I contribute actively to this effort; we are trying to put together a museum of costume and accessories, bags and shoes.

I am convinced that dreams can come true if people work for them, if they love the beautiful and put aside negative emotions and influences. In this way they will win the health of the body and of the soul, kindness and faith. We can reach harmony by respecting ourselves and respecting the city we live in.

CITAT
