Stock Market Palace

Another series of abandoned buildings, this time the Stock Market Palace located just across the National Bank of Romania, built between 1908 and 1923 (or 1927) in French neoclassic style by architect Stefan Burcus. The exterior sculptures were made by Emil Wilhelm Becker, the Royal House sculptor on that time. From 1955 the building houses the National Library, and later the Association of the National Library which is the last occupant. Now it is abandoned, but still so beautiful, I would dare to say even more than when was used as a library. Actually I visited it in about the 1990s when was a library but due to the packed shelves and crowded offices I had no WOW effect like I just had some weeks ago when entered to photographe it.
